What is the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)?

The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a long-term, multi-entry visa launched in mid-2024 for remote workers, freelancers, athletes, students of Thai cultural courses, medical patients, and their families.

It is valid for 5 years and allows you to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per entry. You can extend your stay one time inside the country for another 180 days at Phuket Immigration without leaving Thailand.

We handle the entire DTV process — from choosing the right category and preparing documents to submitting the e-Visa application and supporting you after arrival in Phuket.

DTV Visa Thailand — FAQ

What exactly is the DTV visa?

The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a 5-year multi-entry visa for remote workers, freelancers, students of Thai cultural courses, medical patients, and their families. Each entry allows you to stay up to 180 days, with one in-country 180-day extension available.

Who can apply for a DTV visa?

Any foreigner aged 20+ who fits one of the four categories — Workcation (remote work for a non-Thai employer), Soft Power (Muay Thai, Thai cooking, language and other cultural activities), Medical Treatment, or Dependants (spouse / children under 20 of a DTV holder).

How much money do I need in my bank account?

You need to show 500,000 THB (or the equivalent in your currency) in your personal account. Bank statements covering the last 6 months are normally requested. We help format the documents the way Thai e-Visa officers prefer.

Can I work in Thailand on a DTV visa?

You CAN work remotely for a non-Thai employer or run a remote business. You CANNOT take local employment with a Thai company on the DTV — that requires a separate Non-B visa and a Work Permit.

Can my family come with me on the DTV visa?

Yes. Your spouse and children under 20 can apply as DTV dependants under your application. We process the dependant applications together with the main one.

How long does processing take DTV visa?

Document preparation usually takes 3–7 days on our side. The Thai e-Visa portal then processes the application in 4–10 working days, depending on the consulate handling your country of residence.

Do I have to leave Thailand every 180 days?

Not immediately. You can extend once inside Thailand at Phuket Immigration for another 180 days (1,900 ฿ government fee). After those, a border bounce is required for the next 180-day entry. Since the visa is multi-entry for 5 years, this can be repeated freely.

DTV vs Elite Visa — which one is better?

DTV is much cheaper (10,000 ฿ vs 900,000+ ฿ government fee), allows remote work, and includes family. Elite has no funds requirement, gives longer stays per entry (1 year), and offers concierge perks. For most remote workers and families, DTV is the better choice; Elite is for high-net-worth long-stay residents who want minimum bureaucracy.
